Day 2: IN DARJEELING
Local tour in Darjeeling covering morning 3 points – Tiger Hill Sunrise Point, Batasia Loop and Ghoom Monastery. Afternoon visit 7 points covering Darjeeling Zoo and Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday), Tea garden, Tenzing rock and Gombu Rock, Tibetan Refugee center (Closed on Sunday) and Ava Art Gallery. Free evening at Mall for Shopping. Overnight at Darjeeling.
The pleasant little town of Pelling is famous for magnificent view of the snow-capped mountains of Kanchenjunga. Pelling is about 133 km away from Siliguri and 125km from Gangtok and well connected by bus and jeep services. Placid Pelling pulls most of the visitors for its representative status in history, nature and culture of the state. Situated at an altitude of 6,800 ft, it offers good view of entire mountain ranges including the Koktang, Kumbhakarna, Rathong, Kabru, Dom, Kanchenjunga, Pandim, Zopuno, Shimbho, Narsing, Siniyalchu and others. Pelling is as close as you can get to Kanchenjunga without leaving the material comfort of good hotels and due to its advantageous location, many hotels and lodges have come up in and around Pelling offering various categories of accommodation.
Day 3: DARJEELING - PELLING
Drive to Pelling in west Sikkim via Naya Bazaar (Alt 6100ft/1830M), 135kms in 4hrs. Check in at Hotel. Afternoon free. Overnight at Pelling.
Day 4: : IN PELLING
Full day Pelling local tour covering Pemayangtse Monastery, Khecheopalri Lake, Kunchenjungha Falls and Rimbi Falls, Dentham Valley, Tsangey Falls and Sinsore Bridge. Free evening at Pelling Overnight at Pelling.
The capital of Sikkim, is a unique hill resort of northeast India and undoubtedly one of the most oft-visited ones. Perched on the ridge of a hill at an altitude of 1700 mt, Gangtok is famous for its scenic beauty and spectacular views of the Kanchenjunga, their highest mountain in the world. The town offers a mild temperate climate with a temperature of around 23 degree centigrade in Summer and around 6 degree centigrade during winter. Officially the population of Gangtok is around 50,000 but actually the number is at least double that figure.
The principle language in Gangtok as in other parts of the region is Nepali. But Hindi, English, Bengali and Tibetan are also spoken and understood by a large part of the population.
Day 5: PELLING - GANGTOK
After breakfast drive to Gangtok via Jorthang (Alt 5500Ft /1650M) - 140kms in 4.5hrs. Check in at Hotel. Free evening Overnight stay at Gangtok.
Day 6: EXCURSION OF TSONGO LAKE
Gangtok to Tsongo Lake (Alt 12000ft/3600M) excursion to enjoy snow at alpine lake and back to Hotel. 42kms in 2.5hrs (One way). Afternoon free. (Nathula Pass Optional trip) Overnight at Gangtok.
Day 7: GANGTOK - KALIMPONG
Full Day Gangtok City tour. Visit Government Institute of Cottage Industry (Closed on Sunday, 2nd Saturday), Orchid House, Sikkim Research Institute of Tibetology, Dodurl Chorten, Rumtek Monastery, Botanical Garden, and Santi View Point. Check out and drive to Kalimpong (Alt 4100ft /1250M) - 95kms in 3hrs. Free evening. Overnight at Kalimpong.
At an altitude of 1250m, this tranquil hill station is located on top of a ridge on the east of river Tista. Kalimpong offers many good treks for the adventures. The travel attraction of this place also includes monasteries, orchid-nurseries and overall, the exquisite view over the surrounding countryside. The distance between Kalimpong and Siliguri is 70km. Kalimpong is famous for its indigenous handicraft. The artisans here produce Tibetan and Bhutanese handicraft and jewelry that are much admired in the country and abroad. If you want to go for a shopping-spree for crafts during your tour, Kalimpong is the place. The shops at Kalimpong sell traditional handicrafts such as woodcarvings, copperware like feng-sui bells, tapestry bags, scrolls, paintings and Tibetan jewelry. The town and its surrounding area was ruled by Bhutan for about a century and a half before it was annexed by the British in 1965.
Day 08 : DEPARTURE
Morning visit to Durpin view point, Delo Top, Flower nurseries and Monastery. Return to Bagdogra or NJP 75kms in 2.5hrs.
