Peking Opera is indispensable when you tour Beijing, for it is the quintessence of Chinese culture. The repertoire is mainly related to the significant historical events, fairy tales in the preceding dynasties, emperors, great beauties etc. The complete plot is performed through stylized actions, singing, dancing, acrobatic fighting, mime and dialogues by actors. The English sub-titles are shown on an electronic board alongside the stage and can help you comprehend the plot of the opera. There are basically four types of roles, sheng (male), dan (young female), Jing (painted face male) and chou (clown male or female). Each character is vividly presented. The facial make-up is rich and interesting; you can see how the actors wear make-up in the dressing room when you enter the theater.

Great Wall - The Great Wall of China, with a length of about 6,300 kilometers (3,915 miles), is one of the greatest miracles in the world.
